Abstract

An efiicient and convenient procedure is described for the synthesis of heterocycle-fused 2H- thiopyrans having ortho-dimethylene structures via a hetero Diels—Alder reaction— dehydrohalogenation process starting from heteroaromatic thioketones and oc- chloroacrylonitrile or or-bromoacrylates.
