Abstract

First, in order to obtain cyanoacid III, cis-2-a-carboxyethylcyclopentanol lactone (I) was heated with potassium cyanide25 at 250~ 260 C for 24 hr., and the products were isolated and fractionally distilled. Two compounds were obtained as the main products. One was a lactone, СаШгОг (II), and the other, a cyanoacid, C9H13O2N (III).
