Abstract
The 1,4- or skipped dienic unit represents a key fea- ture in many biologically active natural products. In- cluded among them are a number of fatty acids', insect pheromones2, antibiotic cerulenin3, leukotrienes4 etc. Due to their diverse biological activities and ver- satile utilisation in the synthesis of natural products, a considerable attention has been focussed on the preparation of 1,4-dienic compounds. Already several methods have appeared in the literature. ...
