Abstract

Few studies have attempted the total synthesis of these compounds 9, 12. Very recently, Sniecku! et al. described the first total synthesis of both ochromycinone 1 and its 0- methylated derivative X-14880 C 13. Their successful approach was based on the aromatic directed metalation strategy.
