Abstract

Leaver and Robertson have reported the synthesis of some 1, 3-dithioliuin salts by the cyclization of phenacyl carbodithioates (I) in ether saturated with hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen~ hloride.~,~ We repeated the synthesis of 2, 4-dip henyl-l, 3-dit hioliuni chloride (111, R= R'= Ph), but the yield was considerably less than previously reported.
