Abstract: We report the first direct observations of ion/molecule reactions of the methyl anion CH3-in the gas phase. Methyl anions are generated by means of collision-induced dissociation (CID) of CH3C02-or CH3CH20-in a flowing afterglow-triple quadrupole instrument.
