Abstract

In September, 1923, an investigation was started in this Laboratory on the condensation of benzyl alcohol and o-cresol in the presence of aluminum chloride. The main product of the reaction crystallized as hard flattened needles which melted at 49.5-50.5'and gave analytical results which indicated a formula of CI4H140.
