Abstract Metalation of 1-methylpyrrole using n-butyllithium and tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) in ether furnished 1-methyl-2-pyrrolyllithium, which in turn was converted to 1- methyl-2-methylthiopyrrole upon treatment with dimethyldisulfide.
