Abstract

The use of the o-tolyloxazoline as a common intermediate for the general synthesis of a series of 3-aryl-3, 4-dihydroisocoumarins is described. The synthesis involves three single and convenient steps and provides the products in god yields. The products were characterized by analysis of their mass and high-resolution 500-MHz proton NMR spectral data.
