Abstract

Summary 1. Certain 0-alkoxypropionitriles, obtained by the interaction of acrylonitrile and various alcohols, were hydrolyzed to yield P-alkoxypropionic acids which, in turn, were converted into the corresponding acid chlorides. 2. The P-alkoxypropionyl chlorides reacted with diphenylcadmium to yield 2-alkoxyethyl phenyl ketones, three of which have not previously been reported.
