Results Kinetic deconjugation of a, p-unsaturated esters to their P, y-unsaturated counterparts involves the formation of a molar equivalent of an enolate anion which is subsequently quenched to the corresponding P, y-unsaturated e~ ter.~-~ The inverse, kinetic conjugative process also formally involves an anionic intermediate.
