Abstract

Abstract Nitromethyl, cyanomethyl, and phenylethynyl anions add selectively ortho to arenes containing electron-witdrawing groups and complexed with cyclopentadienyliron. Under similar reaction conditions anions such as alkyl, dichloromethyl and trichloromethyl add in a non-selective way.
