Abstract
Two independent methods for synthesizing the phane-like tetrathiafulvalene derivative 1 are presented. The crystal-structure analysis of 1 reveals a strongly bent tetrathiafulvalene unit. Cyclic voltammetric investigations clearly show divergences from the redox properties of planar tetrathiafulvalenes.
