Abstract Benzopyranones were successfully synthesized using Cu (I)-mediated C–O bond formation in subcritical water. A number of benzopyranone derivatives including polymethoxy benzopyranones, benzopyranopyridones, chromenoindolones, and furochromenones were synthesized in satisfactory yield.
