Abstract

Abstract Silica phenyl sulfonic acid (SPSA) was prepared and effectively used in the one-pot synthesis of 2-aryl-1-arylmethyl-1H-1, 3-benzimidazoles from o-phenylenediamine with aldehydes in water in the presence of tetrabutyl ammonium bromide with good to high yield. Also, SPSA was used as a catalyst for the synthesis of bis (indolyl) methanes in water. J. Heterocyclic Chem.,(2011).
