Abstract: Silver (1) activation of pyridyl thioglycosides in the presence of carbon nucleophiles yield C-glycosides under mild conditions with high stereoselectivity. Pyridyl thioglycosides of suitably protected carbohydrates represent stable precursors to structurally complex C-glycosides.
