Abstract

Thermolysis of azidoformates in polychloromethane solvents was found to be superior to photolysis as a method for preparing perhydro-1, 3-oxazin-2-ones and oxazolidin-2-ones. For some substrates preparatively useful yields of the oxazinones could be obtained but more usually oxazolidone formation competed effectively and often was predominant.
