Abstract
Conclusions The solvent dependence of the tautomeric composition and I3C chemical shifts of D-idose as well as the deuterium isotope effects and the isotopic multiplets all lead to the following simple picture. In going from an aqueous to a nonaqueous solvent, aD- idopyranose, originally present as a mixture of conformers, assumes almost exclusively the 4C, conformation, which is stabilized by intramolecular hydrogen bonding interactions. ...
