Abstract
We report herein for the first time a new route to synthesize I from naturally occurring carbohydrate raw material (viz., D-glucose). The present protocol is also aimed at preparation of various isomeric forms and analogs of I needed for drug discovery research. Retrosynthetic analysis (Scheme 1) indicated diacetone-D-glucose 1 as a suitable substrate to achieve synthesis of amino acid derivative I.
