Abstract
The infrared absorption spectrum of the intermediate isolated from reaction of ammonium dithiocarbamate and chloroacetone does not support a dithiocarbamate structure. Absorption bands expected in the 5.8-and 8-p regions attributed to a ketone C= O group are missing.-4 band near 3.00 p indicates the presence of the OH group, however, required by structure I.
