Abstract
NMR chemical shifts of 1H, 13C, and 73Ge are reported for substituted tris-and tetrakis (phenyl) germanes (XC6H4) 3GeY and (XC6H4) 4Ge, tetrakis (phenoxy) germanes (XC6H4O) 4Ge, and thiophenoxygermanes (XC6H4S) 4Ge. The position and width of 73Ge resonances in three of the four ortho-subsituted phenoxy and thiophenoxy derivatives suggest that in these systems there is weak hypercoordination.
