Abstract
An improved method of synthesis for 2-methyl-5-iso-propylbenzoic acid is reported. The rates of the saponification at three temperatures of the methyl and ethyl esters of 2-methyl-5- isopropylbenzoic acid have been found to be about twice those of the corresponding esters of 3-methyl-6-isopropylbenzoic acid.
