Abstract

The addition of arylsulfonyl azides to dihydropyran was studied. The products obtained from this reaction were shown to be N-(arylsulfony1)-6-pentanimido lactones by nmr and infrared spectra and by hydrolysis studies. Hydrolysis of these compounds gave the corresponding substituted benzenesulfonamide and 8-valerolactone, isolated as its hydrazide. Eight new imido lactones were prepared.
