Abstract

An efficient method for regio-and chemoselective Friedel–Crafts acylation of indole using acyl chlorides in the presence of ZrCl4 has been discovered. It minimizes/eliminates common competing reactions that occur due to high and multiatom-nucleophilic character of indole.
