Abstract

7 high yield (86-93%). These reactions are believed to occur by two successive processes, each of which involves elimination of hydrogen chloride to give the corresponding cyclopropene which subsequently adds alcohol to give product, a sequence of reactions for which there is ample pre~ edent.~ Treatment of 5 with thiophenol in ethanol containing more than 2 equiv of ethoxide gave the corresponding thioketal 7, which was isolated in 100% ...
