Abstract: Bis (trifluoromethyl) mercury,(CF&Hg, is found to react with GeBr4, Ge14, and SnBr4 to produce all of the trifluoromethyl halides,(CF3),, MX4-h, n= 1-4 when M is germanium and n= 1, 2 when M is tin.
