Abstract
CI OMe 54 55 shown in Scheme 11. 2, 3-Diamino-5-methoxypyridine (23) proved to be the most difficult isomer to obtain. After many unsuccessful attempts to prepare 23, which involved putative nitrations of numerous aminomethoxy-and halomethoxypyridines, the four- step process outlined in Scheme I11 proved to be a workable route.
