Abstract
The current upsurge in marine research has rejuvenated natural product chemistry. Recently, Gunasekera and Fairclothl have isolated a series of acetylenic alcohols from the marine sponge Cribrochalina vasculum. Their potential in vitro immunosuppressive and antitumor activities and 1, 4-enyn-3-01 skeleton provided an attractive challenge for synthesis.
