Abstract
Tricyclic bis-spiroketal ring systems [1] are found in a wide range of biologically active natural products such as spirolides,[2] pinnatoxins and pteriatoxins,[3] spirastrellolides,[4] and the azaspiracids.[5] Compared to numerous syntheses of the simpler bicyclic spiroketal, a more common ketal scaffold indigenous to polyketide-based natural products,[6] there are only a limited number of the tricyclic bis-spiroketal syntheses and their synthetic methods. ...
