Abstract

The compounds 3-bromo-2-nitronaphthalene and 3, 4dichloro-2-nitronaphthalene are prepared readily by the basic method of Danish, Silverman, and Tajimal for synthesis of@ substituted naphthalenes. From these compounds and their reduced analogs, sulfonic acids are derived having the unusual 3 (and/or 4)-halo-2-nitronaphthalene and 3 (and/or 4)-halo-2- naphthylamine relationships.
