Abstract In the extraction of oils from seeds of the genus Coriandrum, GC separations of petroselinate from oleate often gave poor resolution of these two isomers. Oleic and petroselinic acids were esterified with a series of alcohols (methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2- propanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 1-butanol, 3-methyl-1-butanol, and 2-ethyl-1-hexanol).
