Abstract
Abstract: The mechanism of the acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of a number of methyl vinyl selenides has been investigated. For all the compounds kinetic solvent isotope effects kH30+/kD30+ ranged from 1.4 to 1.8. It was also shown that a substantial amount of substrate isomerization and deuterium incorporation occurred during hydrolysis.
