Abstract
Following up an investigation by Kazanskii I ) , the authors have investi- gated the use of calcium hcxammine. Ca(NH,),. as an agent for laboratory- scale selective reductions of aromatic hydrocarbons. Under carefully adjusted reaction conditions it proved to be possible to reduce polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons to compounds containing only one isolated benzene ring.
