Abstract

The acetalization of carbonyl compounds with methanol was investigated in the presence of a cationexchanged montmorillonite (Mnf-mont; Mn+= Ce3+, Z1. 4+, Fe3+, A13+, Zn2+, H+, and Na+). Ce3+-mont was found to be the most effective catalyst for substrate-selective acetalization.
