Abstract
Abstract Methylene-bridged resorcin [4] arenes featuring electrochemically active and hydrophilic viologen units, chemically attached to their 'rim'regions, and a variety of pendent groups ('feet') have been synthesized. These compounds were designed to act as electrochemically active cavitands and especially as guests in mycobacterial channel proteins (channel blockers).
