Abstract

15.3 g. of pure maleic anhydride were dissolved in the least amount of anhydrous ether necessary for complete solution and allowed to stand for three days. After washing with anhydrous ether, drying and crystallizing by the chloro- form-petroleum ether procedure, long, transparent needles were obtained, mp 78-80'.
