Abstract
Abstract The N-alkylation of 5-[5-(substituted phenyl)-2-furyl]-1H-tetrazoles with ethyl bromoacetate or ethyl 3-bromopropionate afforded a mixture of 5-substituted ethyl 1-and 2- tetrazoyl acetates or propionates, which were separated and hydrolyzed to the corresponding 1-and 2-acetic or propionic acids, and used as intermediates for the synthesis of semisynthetic cephalosporine antibiotics.
