Abstract

Summary The free anthroxyl radicals discovered by R. Scholl form, with their reductants, fairly stable oxidation-reduction systems of definite, if not very accurately determinable, potential. In dilute acidic solution the reductant of the radical is formed by the intramolecular condensation of the corresponding a-aroylanthrahydroquinone.
