Abstract
Abstract: The preparation of symmetrical diaryl sulfoxides from thionyl chloride and arenes catalyzed by trifluoromethanesulfonic acid is described. The reaction is characterized by its mildness, high yields, selectivity, and ease of workup. Key words: trifloromethanesulfonic acid, thionyl chloride, sulfoxide, arenes
