Abstract

We have shown previously that a variety of soft, anionic nucleophiles will add to cationic iron- q2-alkyne complexes (eq 1) to yield iron-alkenyl complexes. lS2 The reaction is regioselective for the two unsymmetrical alkynes tested, to date, and trans addition of the nucleophile is generally observed.
