Abstract

In the process of developing a method of synthesis of the cyclohept [f] indene derivatives 2b and 3b, a method of preparing benzo [d] tropones from o-bisbromomethylarenes and ketone enamines has been devised. Nitration and bromination of benzo [d] tropones in sulfuric acid solution have been observed to occur excusively in the OL positions of the benzene ring.
