Abstract A highly efficient TMSOTf-catalyzed HMDS silylation of sugars, which can easily be integrated with subsequent reactions in one-pot fashion, has been developed. Its usefulness was demonstrated by applications to streamlined regioselective one-pot protection and nonenzymatic acetylation of unprotected sugars.
