Abstract

Strong asymmetric annellation effects are recorded in the series of lin. benzologues of triphenylene, the third branch of which does not participate in aromatic conjugation as in phenes and acenes. A new synthesis of 6.7-benzopentaphene is reported. Chrysene and 1.2, 3.4-dibenzopyrene are observed as by-products.
