Abstract

The mixture of I and 11, obtained in 50-60y0 yield, was found to consist of 60-70y0 I. The isomeric alcohols were readily separated by fractional distillation: I, bp 53-55'(6 mm); 11, bp 65-67'(6 mm). The structure of compound I was established by its infrared spectrum which showed bands at 1640 cm.-*(nonconjugated C= C stretch) and characteristic vinyl CH bands at 3090, 3010, 1850, 1420, 992, and 913 Compound I1 exhibits a double band at 1640 ...
