Abstract

Certain hydantoins of the monoalkoxymethyl type'prepared in this Laboratory have been demonstrated to possess definite hypnotic activity; however, of the derivatives tested thus far few are likely to find clinical use. In an effort to obtain a satisfactory soporific of this type, a study has now been made of the synthesis of 5, 5-dialkoxymethylhydantoins and related types.
