Abstract

1, 2-Dehydrogenation of the hydroxylated steroids (I! I) by fermentation gave the results shown in Table i. It will be seen from this that the presence of a hydroxyl group at C-If reduces the rate of dehydrogenation by 20-30%, which does not substantially affect the satisfactory course of the reaction.
