Abstract
During the course of our study of chiral vinyllithium reagents1 we frequently witnessed the formation of byproducts which could be rationalized as resulting from a nucleophilic-type substitution on a vinylidene carbenoid. Several studies have been undertaken to elucidate the mechanism of these interesting reactions.
