Abstract

Summary Maleic anhydride reacts with 1-(a-naphthyl)-cyclopentene-1, 1-(a-naphthyl)-2- methylcyclopentene-1, 1-(fl-naphthyl)-cyclopentene-l, 1-(p-naphthyl)-2-methylcyclopentene- l, 1-(6'-methoxy-2'-naphthyl)-cyclopentene-1 and 1-(6'-methoxy-2'-naphthyl)-2- methylcyclopentene-1. In these reactions one of the double bonds of the diene system is part of the aromatic naphthalene ring.
