Abstract

Whereas all above reactions had yielded compounds of structure type C (Scheme I), the reduction3" of alcohol 3 followed a pathway to a product of structure type A. 6 Thus a reaction of carbinol 3 with isopropylmagnesium bromide in the presence of bis (tripheny1phosphino) nickel dichloride,[(C, H,), P], NiCl,,'gave the allyl alcohol 5a in 92% yield.
