Abstract

Abstract: The second-order rate constants (x loa, Ml sec-1) for oxidation of 1, 2-disubstituted 3, 3-dimethylcyclopropenes in CCll at 0'with m-chloroperbenzoic acid are: R1= Me and Rz= H, 0.93; R1= R2= Me, 11.24; R1= Me and Rz= Ph, 7.26; R1= Rz= Ph, 0.384. These rate constants show vinyl substituent effects that parallel those for olefins which undergo true epoxidation. The results are consistent with the formation of oxabicyclobutane ...
